Like many steep sites in Sydney the sun or the view isn’t necessarily considerately located. Here, both favour the front garden. Our response was to provide an elevated pool grounded on a new double garage elevating the terrace to glimpse over the bush foreground towards Manly Ocean. Our aim was to provide an uninterrupted platform to entertain snugly wrapping around rock outcrops and meandering stone steps. Materials, colours and stylistic cues were drawing from the existing house, connected by the terrace the existing elevated balconies of the heritage house through a series of stone clad stairs.
