The site is a north facing long, narrow site which overlooks Chinamans Beach through a canopy of Jacarandas and Angophora’s. The design affords the best access to northern sun to all living areas. An entry courtyard separates work space from living and buffers the house from the street. Floating ceilings draw the eye upwards and provide light play on the wall and floor throughout the day, similarly the pool draws the eye and entices the swimmer to swim out under the Jacaranda and Gum trees. The right balance of pushing the council controls whilst also conferring with neighbours saw the project attain approval without incident whilst responding intimately with the site.
